  1. Briefly, what have you done personally or professionally since high school?
  2. I attended North Carolina Central University on a full 4-year state scholarship, completing both my undergraduate and first graduate degree. My second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership was received from Central Michigan University and the University of Missouri where I completed my doctoral course work, obtaining my specialist in Leadership. I had a 35 year career in education, teaching 20 years, administration at the elementary/middle school level for 15 years, and teaching at the university level. I retired from being a middle school principal.
How long have you lived in Raleigh/Cary/Durham?

  3. How long have you lived in Raleigh/Cary/Durham?
  4. We’ve lived in Raleigh for almost 5 years. I grew up in Hamlet, N.C., however, moved away after graduate school and teaching one year in Durham County Public Schools. We returned in 2013 after living in multiple states due to my husband’s career moves.

  5. What was your motivation for joining ALTA?
  6. I learned about ALTA while living in Indianapolis, Indiana. My husband and I attended a Gala Fundraiser for ALTA and had the pleasure of sitting with the President of the Chapter. I spoke with her about providing clothes to about 20 students in the school where I was Assistant Principal. She later suggested I join when we made the move to St. Louis in 1998.

  7. Please, tell us something about you we may not know or something about you that is unique or unexpected.
  8. I’m an open book – what you see is who I REALLY AM! I may not act like a baby, however, I am the youngest of my three siblings!
